‘Do the next ‘left’ thing.’
Janell Lim
What is the “right” thing, anyway? We’re so often told to make the “right” choice—as if there’s one perfect, pre-approved path waiting for us to follow. But life rarely offers clear-cut answers. Every decision, every action, is colored by perspective. So what if we stopped trying to be right all the time and just did the next thing—whatever feels honest, real, and meaningful in the moment?
By calling it the “left” thing, I’m intentionally flipping the script. It’s a gentle rebellion against the pressure to always be correct, perfect, aligned with someone else’s standard. The “left” thing might be unexpected. It might be unconventional. But it’s still forward. And maybe, that’s all that matters. Every action holds possibility, not moral weight. Every moment is a chance—not for perfection—but for movement, growth, and choice.
So no, it doesn’t have to be the “right” thing. It just needs to be a thing. Your thing. The next “left” thing.
Shall we find your next “left” thing together?
